BETTER YOU SERIES #2– PERSONAL BRANDING

In my previous article about effective presentation, I mentioned a bit about introducing yourself and your role before you deliver your presentation. Now I want to share further on enhancing yourself in terms of projecting your image to the outside world. The famous phrase is personal branding.

There are many ways to build your personal branding. I will share my personal insight in this article. Feel free to take some or all of them to your liking. Without further ado, let’s dive in.

  1. FOCUS ON YOUR STRENGTHS

I believe all of you are familiar with term: strengths and weaknesses. We get them when filling in working application form or getting personalities test result. That list of traits actually is the perfect point to start with. Let’s focus on the strengths part. Why? Because it is easier to improve the strengths and the weaknesses. And let’s face the fact, no one is perfect and will not be perfect. Therefore, let’s tip the balance and focus on your strong points.  I want you to focus your time improving your strengths. Take them to the next level.

  1. CONSULT YOUR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS

While focusing on improving your strengths, you can consult your close friends or family members or even your boss and colleagues from time to time. Ask them their opinions about you on your strengths and weaknesses. This way, you can confirm and sort of the strongest strengths and what points to focus on. Do not hesitate to ask for their advice on how to be a better you. I am sure they are happy to share their two cents.

  1. STAY IN YOUR OWN UNIQUE CHARACTER

Whenever you have decided whose strengths yo0u want to focus on and doing what you can to take it to next level, you need to embody those traits. How to do that? Tell them as the answer when the question arises. For example: in an interview session. Create elaboration around the traits when needed. And asides from preaching it, you have to practice it also in real life. Let’s say punctuality is your strength, then be punctual to your whatever appointments you agree on.

  1. OWN IT AND BE PROUD OF YOURSELF

All points above can be done over and over again. Soon enough you will wear your strengths as your suit or armour or maybe we can call it your style or your persona. You need to own it and wear it proud. Let it be your uniqueness, your personal branding.
