Hi friends. Do you ever feel that you are stuck in your current position in company you are working for now? It is maybe your inner self tells you to move to another one. However, moving to a new company sometimes hard to do. It is because it is supposedly it is a major decision to do. It also involves a lot of factors to weigh in. Sometimes we make reckless decision just because there are a factor or two we did not include in our check list. This time I want to share some factors you need to consider when you want to make a move to another company.
Everybody has motivation in any action they do, including moving to another job/company. You need to know this before you make the decision. Why this is important? Because you need to be sure of why you decide to move so that you own the responsibility in case things in new company are not as you expected. This will save yourself from regretting your own action in the future.
This is really important. Being a headhunter myself, I have been involved in hiring discussion with HR people and high-level management at my client side. The career journey in candidate’s resume is actually one of the factors they consider. It is usually a big question mark if they see relatively short tenure in a CV. It will portray the candidate as someone who is just after the bigger compensation without caring of staying longer to make worthy contribution.
Do a trace back of what you have done for your company and the rewards out of it. If you feel that you do not grow or you feel you have maximized your potential growth in current company, maybe it is time to move.
Do comparison whether staying with your current employer or taking the offer from another one will serve your career plan in the long run. Do not easily make decision based on bigger paycheck or higher position only.
I see this factor sometimes when consulting my candidates. Some non-career or non-money things can be factors to consider too. For example: distance between your house and the office, whether they have daycare facilities during Ied festive season, etc.
The ultimate factor you need to consider: your level of happiness. Sometimes this is the most important factor because when you are not happy, you can’t do your work well and it can manifest through your overall physical and mental health.
