What are the benefits of being an employee? Not everyone is cut out to be a business people. Some people are more comfortable being an employee. They aren’t even interested in becoming a freelancer either. Of course, each choice has its own strength, downsides, and risks. But if you decide to be an employee, there are some merits to it.
Obviously, you can enjoy a guaranteed pay. Unlike freelancers whose source of income isn’t guaranteed, an employee is quite the opposite. Whether you get your payment within monthly or weekly basis, you won’t have to worry about a thing. A freelancer has an unknown source of income. If they can’t find a job, they won’t get money. If they don’t work, then they won’t be paid. An employee doesn’t have to be concerned about it. It doesn’t matter whether the company makes profit or not; you will still get paid.
Have you ever heard a phrase ‘from 9 to 5?’ which means that your working hours have been set; starting from 9 AM to 5 PM. Being an employee gives you a structure schedules. The time is set. Whether you work from 8 to 4 or 9 to 5 or even 7 to 4, you know how many times you will be spending working. This kind of benefit is great for those who like the sense of rigidity of time management. Some people may have a graveyard shift, from 11 PM to 7 AM. It doesn’t matter, as long as you know your own schedule.
Still related to the structured schedules, you basically have the freedom to earn more. Some people find out that they have too much free time and they want to use it to get more money. Some people may find a second job – even a third one. Some may turn to online works, such as filling out surveys, becoming a freelancer, and such things alike. If you are creative, you should be able to find a way.
When you become an employee, you can enjoy many employee benefits. A bonus, for instance, is one of the most common offered benefits you can get if you have a good performance. Health insurance, paid leave, maternity leave, and others are some of the standard (financial and extra) benefits that you can get from being an employee. Some companies may even provide logistics, motor vehicle allowance, electricity allowance, and others, depending on their policies.
An worker has their own job description. A customer service has different responsibilities from an accountant. The latter has different responsibilities from a financial manager. Basically, you know your duties and responsibilities. You know your goal of the tasks. When you have completed the goal, you will be given another task and another goal. There is no need to go astray from your job description or be creative with it.
All in all, being an employee does have its own perks although it’s not always about rainbows and unicorns. But once you understand about the benefits of being an employee, you should be able to enjoy your job more.
